What is Hot Wheels ID?
Hot Wheels ID is a line of cars that have an NFC chip and can be used together with apps and interactive tracks. This line was introduced by Mattel in 2019.
The chips are used to track the cars on lanes through the use of portals with sensors that measure the speed of the cars as they pass through them. Data is collected via bluetooth in applications for IOS and Android. In addition, the apps also have mini-games that can be played together with the tracks, portals and app.
The interesting thing is that each car has an identification, a kind of VIN number for each one. That is, when you scan the car code through the app, it enters your virtual garage. From then on, each time you use the car on the interactive track, the data is stored in the app. And, if by chance the same car is registered in another user’s garage, this data is transferred. That is, there can only be one virtual record for each car.
The first version of the Hot Wheels ID has Spectraflame paint (although some are ZAMAC), exclusive series wheels and the chip located on the chassis. They were initially sold separately packaged in a box.
In 2020 a second version has been released. Some models were randomly distributed in the middle of the mainline (in the same way that TH and STH are distributed). This version came in a card, the same size as the mainline cards, but with the Hot Wheels logo in gray, and the ID identification. The only difference between the two versions is the wheels. The second version does not have the exclusive ID wheels.
